Jerantut is a town in Pahang, Malaysia. It is located about 200 km from Kuala Lumpur and 180 km from Kuantan. Jerantut is the largest district in the State of Pahang. It covers an area of 2,900 square miles (755,771.93 Hectares). Bordered by the States of Kelantan and Terengganu in the North, Temerloh and Maran districts in the South, Kuala Lipis and Raub districts in the West and Kuantan district and Terengganu state in the East.
Jerantut stores some of the amazing flora and fauna that is endemic only in the area. The biggest flower in the world which is Rafflesia also can be found in Jerantut rainforest.
However, in 2010, Jerantut had 597kha of natural forest, extending over 97% of its land area. In 2020, it lost 3.72kha of natural forest, equivalent to 2.93Mt of CO₂ of emissions. From 2002 to 2020, Jerantut lost 59.5kha of humid primary forest, making up 52% of its total tree cover loss in the same time period. Total area of humid primary forest in Jerantut decreased by 10% in this time period.
